SPQw0Rk Factory is a pretty interesting setup. At first, when you walk in, it feels like you’re just entering into some sort of bland standard office, until you see signs welcoming you to coworking!
The coworking space is open to all sorts of creatives with a wide variety of tools, equipment, resources and work space. When I visited the space it was being used by businesses in the fashion, arts and furniture design space. The space seemed to be a cross between a coworking and a maker space, which I guess makes a lot of sense in a fashion centric city like Rome.
This coworking space has regular desk space as well as dedicated office space. Overall, it seemed rather quiet when I went and I didn’t feel much of a community vibe. I could see that SPQwoRk’s heart was in the right place, but it almost felt like coworking was still a very unknown and new concept to the people of Rome, which it may very well have been. Location was a bit outside from central Rome where I was staying so your best to either pick accommodation close by or use a taxi/public transport to get there.
SPQwoRk has the intent to collect and cultivate highly creative working groups for the development of collaborative synergies between producers, thinkers, students, academics and entrepreneurs who share ideas, and want to create new products, new businesses to work, acquiring new abilities. An initiative of this kind would have an immeasurable impact on the community .
